Heritage Valley Health System reaches deal to enhance electronic medical records system - Dallas Business Journal:

The gear allows Heritage’s 150 employed doctorw to electronically transmit prescriptions and access patienf medical records from laptops andhandheldx computers, reducing errors and streamlining care. The industrg average for buying electronid medical record systemsis $10,00 per doctor, although the exact amount of the Heritage Valley contracft was not available. Previously, Heritagr Valley received a $661,500 grant throug health insurance giant to help pay forthe upgrade.
In additiom to two hospitals, Heritags Valley has two surgery two cancer treatment centers and a numbetof community-based diagnostic and treatment facilitiesx to treat patients from Allegheny, Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties, and partes of West Virginia and Allscripts began helping Heritage develop its electronic recordkeepin g system in 2006. “As an integratedf delivery network, we’re relying on the Allscripts solutiojn to help us creater a single electronic patient record that will drive greater integration and improvemenrt incare delivery,” Heritage President and CEO Norm Mitr said in a prepared statement.
