Great Lakes Calcium to pay $280,000 fine in settlement - Boston Business Journal:

The settlement resolves charges that Great Lakez Calcium violated state air pollution laws and air permit requirementxs at its facility on the west shoreline of the Fox River near the Bay of Green Bay, the Wisconsin Departmen t of Justice said Tuesday. The allegesd violations occurred from 2005 toFebruary 2008. The Grea t Lakes Calcium facility emits particulatew matter in the form of calcium carbonat dust created from the processingy and storage of and from several combustion The complaint charges that Great Lakes Calcium operated in violation of state law and its permirt by installing five processes without a exceeding certainpermit limits, failinbg to maintain records and to report failing to calibrate instruments, and failing to meet stacjk height requirements.
Under the settlement, Great Lakes Calciumj will pay $180,000 in forfeitures and penalt y assessmentsand costs. In the company will pay $100,000 to install and operater broken bag detectors to provide protectio against excessive emissions beyond that required bystatwe law.
