Village. Metro wants the facilitg to meet environmental standards that woulds enable it to receive a Silver ratingy underthe U.S. Green Building Council’s program for Leadership in Energy andEnvironmentap Design. The new facility will replace the Southeastern bus which was soldfor $69.25 million and vacatefd last year because of its closenesse to Nationals Park. The land at D.C. situated at Shepherd Parkway and BluePlaines Drive, was appraised at $8.05 million.
The sale's $6.45 million price tag represents the appraisal value minus the additionao operating costsof $1.6 million incurred by Metroi for moving the buses. Buses that had been running out of the Southeasternj bus garage have been dispersed to other garages in the regio n at an additionaloperating cost. Until the new facility is completed, the additional operating costss for the buses will be funderfrom Metro’s operating reserve account, which was create d from the proceeds of the Southeastermn bus garage sale. The final sale of propertu must first be approved bythe D.C.
