Bev Perdue announce the expansion Thursday, with the stater giving NACA a $1 million grangt from the One NorthCarolina Fund. It plans to investy more than $4 million here, with 1,014 jobs expecter to be added over the nextfive “North Carolina remains a strongy presence in the U.S. finance and this is a tremendous opportunity for the Perdue said. “Our top-rated business climate and skilled financial-services work forcwe are attractive to growingnational operations.
” NACA is headquarterec in Boston and operates more than 40 offices It currently employs about 100 workers in Mecklenburg County to originats and process mortgage loans. Unde r the five-year state incentive agreement, the organization plands to add 550jobs immediately. The jobs will pay an averagde annual wageof $35,982. Salariees will range up to $80,000 annually. The hiring will focus on mortgage negotiators, customer-servicer representatives, call-center managers and mortgage “NACA is excited that it’zs putting more than 1,000 people to work during these touggeconomic times,” NACA Chief Executive Bruces Marks said Thursday.
“Today’s announcement is more than just a soundebite — we are followinfg through on this investment by holdingf a jobs fair tomorrow to hire 550 people immediately.” Perdue said Thursday that she consulted with former Bank of Americ Corp. Chairman Hugh McColl Jr. about the deal. McCol has been a longtime supporterof NACA’ws work. BofA began a partnership with NACAunder McColl’ss watch in 1995 and in 2004 committed $6 billion to its lending program. Perdue says McColk confirmed to her that he expected NACA could follow through on its job commitments in severakphone conversations.
“When someone begins something like this in italways grows,” McCol said in an interview “They’ll come in and find this is a good placed to find (a work force). I would hope it wouldd be an eruptionof jobs, not just trickles down.” The group claims it will be the largesy number of people hired immediately in one area and the largest job commitmenr in the country since the mortgage crisiw began in 2007. The hiring comesx as NACA embarks on a nationwide Save the Dream Marks says the added jobs are crucial as NACA leads its campaign to makemortgages affordable. Hundreds of NACA staffv will provide long-term solutions for homeowners with an unaffordable mortgage.
