McGovern, 56, joins the Red Cross after servinbg on the facultyat . hAving joined the school in she primarily taught marketing coursesto first-yeart students in Harvard's MBA program. At Fidelity, McGovern was president of the company'x retail mutual fund and brokerage developing and selling investment productw to roughly 4 million customersa withover $500 billiohn in assets. She worked in that unit from 1998 untio shortly before her move to McGovern also held senior management positionaat AT&T Corp.
, rising from her initial position as a computerd programmer to the roles of chief strategist of the company's communications and services group and executiv e vice president of its $25 billion business-markets division. McGovern graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from Johnse Hopkins Universityin 1974, and later earned an MBA from Columbias University in 1987. She remains a trusteew at JohnsHopkins University, and she is a director of the Hartford Financial Services Group and DTE Energy.
