The statewid e survey of small business owners conducted by Small Business a national small business advocacy organization focuserd on healthcare reform, found that affordability is the primary obstacle to small businesds owners obtaining health insurance. Eighty-four percent of small businessez not offering health insurance saythey can’yt afford to, while 70 percent of those who do are struggliny to provide it.
Small businesws owners also see the cost of health insurance as a significant barrier to entrepreneurshio and say reform is importanr in helping theeconomy “Small business owners aren’t shirking theidr responsibility where health care is concerned,” said John founder and chief executive officer of Small Businessx Majority. “They feel a responsibility to provide healty care for their employees and are willinvg to do their part in fixing ourbrokenb system.” The report found 75 percengt of small business owners support having the option of a privatwe or public health insurance plan as part of healtn care reform.
